Iconic Women

At very young age my father introduced me to many "Iconic Women" threw vintage magazines, great concert clips and old movies! To name a few of these ladies,
Coco Chanel.Jackie Kennedy Onassis.Audrey Hepburn.Princess Diana.Janis Joplin.

I always want to look classy and graceful but want my personality to shine threw my "look."

Over the next few days I will be posting about my favorite Iconic Ladies! In the posts will be tips on how to get their "looks," how to modernize their signature style and/or how to emphasize YOU while taking cues from the pros.

Keep reading day after day for more Iconic Women and message me with your Fashion Icon so that I can write about her too!

Tomorrow's Feature will be:

Great Trick for a NEW Dewy 5 Min Face Routine!

Have you ever tried to use your favorite powder blush on dewy finish skin???
Doesn't work so well does it??
Usually ends up looking to heavy, blotchy and/or streaky!

Here's my simple 5 minute Face for DEWY SKIN:
  1. Tone, Mist, SPF Moisturize..
  2. Cream Foundation - set t-zone and eye area with powder...
  3. Rub your FAV lip colour on the back of your hand and use your ring finger to pick up a small amount of the pigment! With a dabbing motion apply it to the apples of your cheeks. Smooth and blend the colour with your clean middle finger! (Why buy a cream blush when you have a ton of beautiful lipstick shades in your cosmetics bag?)
  4. Use the same technique with a light-shimmery lipstick to add a highlight on the cheekbones and inner eye!
  5. Add Eye-Liner, Mascara and a lip colour - Gloss or Stick and tadaa!!! You're done!

Looks dewy, flawless, natural and it's super quick...
Have you tried this? Let me know what you think!

Miss America Beauty Blunders

Miss America 2010 Caressa Cameron

It has come to my attention that I missed the 2010 Miss America Pageant! Sorry lovely ladies. Of course if I had watched it, I would have SOMETHING to say about the hair and make-up. Lets not forget the ATTIRE! First and foremost, the ladies who competed are all beautiful and inspiring. That being said, there are few things I would like to touch on!

EYE SHADOW: the trend for the past 2 years has been “less is more!” These girls definitely did not get that memo. I’m not sure if it was my bf’s large screen HD TV that made this so obvious to me, or what. But it was almost appalling! I always tell you ladies to enhance your natural beauty, NOT MASK YOUR “FLAWS” WITH TOO MUCH MAKE-UP!

Is it part of the the pageant culture to be HEAVY on the shadow?? We didn’t see any of that look at the Grammy’s...

What did you think of the beauty looks on Miss America? Are we all in agreement?? :)

Grammy Looks Breakdown

This year's Grammy's definitely did not disappoint! I could talk about the music and my opinion on who truly
deserved which award... but instead, lets talk HAIR, MAKE-UP, and NAILS!

Dear Miley, we appreciate you BEING your age! Your look for the Grammy’s was current and very age appropriate! Your slightly off center part is PERFECT for your face shape... lets keep it there! Oh and your make-up artist deserves a raise - thanks for NOT over doing it!

FACT:
Your part can make the proportions of your face look completely different! Play with your part to see what looks best with your features!

Taylor, you have been playing with this, “Old Hollywood Glam” look for a while now. Although you always look beautiful, we’d love to see something different on you! You could get away with almost any look! Just don’t ever change the STUNNING hair colour! XO

Lea, WE LOVE YOU! It isn’t a secret that you can often walk into LBB and hear the soundtrack of Glee over the humming noise of our blow dryers! Last night Lea showed class and elegance in her fun and flirty Grammy look!

This lovely lady is showing all of our predictions for make-up: heavy mascara, beautiful highlight and a soft and subtle lip! Looks a lot like Lift Cosmetic’s “Serene” lip stick! *On sale right now for $10.00! Come try it on!

Who were your favourite Grammy beauties?

Grammy Beauty Predictions

Grammy count down! T-2 Days... confession. I may not be watching the Grammy’s (or any award show, for that matter) for the right reasons!!! I LOVE THE HAIR, MAKE-UP and FASHION!

Of course I love the talent, but mostly I love seeing what the celebs look like on the red carpet. It gives me inspiration for when you lovely ladies come in! What do we expect for the Grammy’s?

My guess is that the beauties will be sporting all of the up coming trends for SPRING! (If only we Canadians didn’t have to wait so long to see some Spring weather!)

Taylor Swift Grammy look 2009

The Look:
Lips: A sheer lipstick, almost gloss-like. Try Lift Cosmetic’s “Crush".
Eyes: Heavy on MASCARA and loads of highlighting.
Hair: SOFT voluminous waves, all down, half up, low tousled bun. You’ll see it all!

Check back tomorrow for some tips on getting those loose waves!

What looks do you think celebrities will be rocking at the Grammy's?

LIFT Cosmetics Get the Look: Bronzed Tropics Summer 2009

Summer time is all about summer fun especially when it comes to your makeup. Lift Cosmetics wants to help you get this season's hottest looks. Think tropical and sun-kissed and let your lips be the center of attention. Update your makeup bag with sheer shimmery shadows, colourful liners, golden-based blushes, and lip products in corals and oranges all from Lift Cosmetics!

Get the Look:

Step 1: Even out the skin tone with Lift Cosmetics' triple milled Dual Finish Powder only where needed. The point is to look flawless without the mask effect.

Step 2: You want your eyes to remain neutral but with a sheer wash of colour. Try #186 shadow, a golden-olive shadow from lash line to crease. Apply the same shade to the bottom lash line as well. To add some fun to the look we recommend using a coloured liner like Lift's Emerald Pencil Eye Liner. For an edgier evening look, use the Emerald liner on the top and bottom and smudge. Add a couple coats of our Waterproof Black Mascara which never smudges, clumps and contains nourishing ingredients for healthy lashes.

Step 3: Give your skin a beautiful bronzed glow with our triple milled Powder Bronzer (comes in 4 colours from light to dark). Apply bronzer where the sun would naturally hit you: cheekbones, forehead, nose, and chin. To enhance your bronzed skin apply Cupid's Kiss, an amber gold blush to the apples of the cheeks.

Step 4: These days, it's cool to wear lipstick. Lipstick is the sophisticated way to wear colour. If you normally shy away from these little sticks of colour, Lift has just the lipstick for you! Our Lipglass line looks like a lipstick but has the feel and look of a gloss! This season's hottest shade is Summer Solstice, a gorgeous coral-orange. To wear like a stain, apply lipstick and then blot with a tissue or use your fingers to apply.

Special Summer Promo: Buy 3 products and receive 1 free! Visit Lift Cosmetics official site and click on "Specials" for more information.
